For its Assistant Divisional Commissioner (ADC) level officers, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has decided to purchase 24 brand new Scorpio automobiles costing Rs 2.83 crore. The idea will be discussed at today's meeting of the standing committee. According to sources, the BS-VI cars will be purchased at a discounted rate from Mahindra Company via the Government E-Market (GEM) portal.
An assistant divisional officer is assigned to each of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) 24 divisions. For deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) purchased 28 Scorpio automobiles in 2014. The capacity of these vehicles has been exceeded.
Each of the new cars costs Rs 13.7 lakh, but Mahindra is willing to offer a 15% discount, bringing the price down to Rs 10 lakh.
According to the Bombay High Court judgement, obsolete vehicles cannot be used, according to additional municipal commissioner Suresh Kakani. He stated that the existing cars have been used beyond their capabilities and would need to be replaced.
"Once the new cars arrive, our technical committee will conduct an audit of the old vehicles and submit us a report," Kakani added. After that, we'll figure out what to do with them. They'll almost certainly be scrapped." Now it is to be seen how the opposition reacts over this decision of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022 approach and party not leaving any stone unturned to take a jibe of the party in power in the richest corporation.
