Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Pune Municipal Corporation have hinted that a special drive will be held next week to provide immunizations to those going abroad for study. The PMC has decided to launch a special vaccine drive for students going abroad for higher studies. Mayor Muralidhar Mohol said this was done to ensure that travel abroad would not be hampered by the lack of immunizations. He said the drive will be conducted at Kamala Nehru Hospital and students will get walk-in registration.

The BMC said on Friday that breastfeeding women, people with special abilities, and senior citizens at immunization centers would be given priority for confirmation of admission to foreign universities or the required foreign visa. State Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray tweeted. Talks with other municipal corporations across the state “with letters of confirmation in foreign cities to implement this in students in and around those cities. Although the numbers are small, their career opportunities cannot be missed. The drive will be held in Pune on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mohol said students must have the required documents confirming the admission to a foreign university. The mayor told students not to look at the vaccination center as the number of students will be held throughout the week if the number of vaccines is higher. Last week, the Kerala government included foreign travelers for jobs and studies among priority groups for immunization, to control the government-purchased covishield.
