BMC has stopped the admissions of new Covid-19 patients at three jumbo facilities

Mumbai: Mumbai Civic Body on Monday suspended the admission of new KlCovid-19 patients in three jumbo services due to monsoon repair work. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that the three jumbo facilities will not accept new patients until June 1. The dean of the Jumbo Kovid-19 Center at BKC, Dr. S.K. Rajesh Dere said.

 

The last year before Hurricane Thakta, most of the patients in the Bandra-Kurla complex, Dahisar and Mulund were shifted to other hospitals. Mumbai has six operating Covid-19 centers at Byculla, Worli, BKC, Goregaon, Dahisar, and Mulund Meanwhile, BMC officials said city officials have begun preparations to tackle the third wave of the coronavirus and plan to set up three new Jumbo Covid-19 centers in the city.

 

According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), work is in progress to set up a new Jumbo Covid-19 center in Malad in the western suburbs. The center has about 2,000 beds, including 200 ICU beds and 1,536 oxygen beds, the MMRDA said. The jumbo facility will also have a special pediatrics ICU ward for children, as well as a yoga hall and recreation hall. Two more Jumbo Covid-19 centers will be set up in Somaiya Ground and Kachumbari, the eastern suburbs of Mumbai, civic officials said.
