BMC: Guidelines issued for Navratri celebrations
In a recent decision, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has released fresh guidelines for the celebration of Navratri this year. As the possibility of Covid 19 third wave in October is being speculated and the rising dengue cases in the state, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) also has asked the citizens to celebrate the festival in a very simple way.

Just like the Ganesh festival guidelines the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has set up guidelines for the Navaratri festival where the Public Navratri Utsav Mandal has started the online service, form 23rd of September with permission of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

A total of five people will be permitted to gather when immersing the idol on the last day or any time before. Inside the pandal, there should only be 10 people, at the time of Aarti following the social distancing norms. Just as the restrictions on the heights of Ganesh idols were made, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has restricted the height of the Durga idol to 4 feet for public celebrations, and 2 feet for private setups.

If any case the public circle by the day of immersion, turns into a containment zone, then the Durga idol should be imposed in the premises itself. The restrictions further stated that noise pollution should be taken care of. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) requested the citizens to use the idols made up of clay over plaster of paris and immerse the idols at homes or in artificial ponds which have been created by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

In an earlier request, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had stated that the citizens returning to the city from their hometowns after the celebrations of the Ganpati festival, in a way to stay on a safe side should undergo Covid 19 test.
