BMC gear up, predicts a surge in travellers from abroad, plans way ahead
Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022, the civic body seems to gear it up in every possible way. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently is predicting that there may be a possible surge in the number of international travellers who are going to visit India as Christmas approaches, with this prediction it has directed all its ward officers to take the Covid 19 testing up all over the city of Mumbai and track on any new variant of the virus. 
 
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials stated that as the festive season approach there will be a greater number of arrivals as those working or studying abroad will return home in holidays. Further, predicting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that it will be increasing the screening and testing process for the travellers entering the city to look out for any new variant of the Covid 19 virus. 
 
“The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is noticing everything very closely with testing and screening to a daily number of Covid 19 cases being reported in the city of Mumbai,” stated Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani. 
Earlier the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had stated that after the Diwali festival, 15 days will be very crucial and will be monitored closely. 
 
“After the Diwali festival till December 31st, the time is going to be very crucial. Everything is expected to come out in phases. The first phase, where the impact of the Diwali festival could be seen till November 20th. In the second phase Christmas and New Year celebrations will be monitored,” stated Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials. 
 
Adding on to this Kakani stated that any additional variant will be more than enough to rock the boat so that’s why it is very important to monitor the situation closely. He stated that he would request testing of travellers and also request people to get them tested if they find any single symptom.
