The Mumbai unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun full-fledged preparations for the upcoming civic elections, with the announcement of new appointments and extensive outreach programs aimed at strengthening its base across the city. Mumbai BJP president Ameet Satam confirmed that the appointment of all office-bearers for the city unit will be completed by the end of this month.

Satam mentioned that the party has already finalized the selection of district presidents and ward-level committees, marking a significant step in its pre-election organisational restructuring. Over the next few weeks, Satam plans to convene organisational meetings across all 36 assembly constituencies within Mumbai. These meetings will focus on coordinating ground-level strategies, mobilising booth workers, and outlining the party’s civic poll roadmap.

Alongside this, the city core committee members will also be conducting similar meetings at the ward level, ensuring every part of the city is covered under the BJP’s election preparation plan. With 227 electoral wards under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the BJP has set for itself an ambitious goal — to secure over 100 seats in the forthcoming elections.

In the 2017 BMC polls, the BJP achieved its best-ever performance, winning 82 seats, just two short of its then-ally, the Shiv Sena, which had emerged as the largest party. This time, the party leadership is confident of improving upon that tally, buoyed by its continued success in Mumbai’s assembly elections, where it has consistently won the maximum number of constituencies in the city.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, while speaking informally with journalists on Wednesday, expressed confidence in the party’s growing influence in Mumbai. He noted that given BJP’s steady electoral track record in the metropolis, the party is expected to contest a significant share of seats in the civic elections as part of the larger Mahayuti alliance.
To further connect with citizens and understand their concerns, the Mumbai BJP has planned a massive three-day public outreach campaign scheduled from October 30 to November 1. During this campaign, BJP workers will go door-to-door across the city, engaging directly with Mumbaikars and encouraging them to share their suggestions, civic issues, and expectations for inclusion in the party’s poll manifesto.

The feedback collected will be compiled through the BJP’s online platform, ‘Awaaz Mumbaikarancha’ (The Voice of Mumbai Citizens) — a digital initiative designed to bridge the gap between the citizens and policymakers. This approach reflects the party’s attempt to craft a manifesto that genuinely represents the needs and aspirations of Mumbai’s diverse population.

In addition to the outreach campaign, the BJP is also gearing up for a series of high-impact events in November. A youth conclave, to be addressed by Chief Minister Fadnavis, is scheduled for mid-November, where young voters will be invited to share their ideas for Mumbai’s future. The party will also organise interactive sessions with professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders, aimed at gathering inputs from working citizens and aligning them with the party’s vision for urban governance.

Ameet Satam further revealed that similar meetings have already been successfully conducted with various sections of society — including tribal communities, sanitation workers, and Mumbai’s iconic dabbawala network — each of whom plays a crucial role in the city’s social and economic ecosystem. The discussions were intended to ensure that the voices of every segment of Mumbai’s society are represented in the BJP’s election agenda.

Meanwhile, expanding its digital reach, the BJP has also intensified its internal coordination efforts across Maharashtra. In Nagpur, senior BJP leader and former state party president Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced that the party has successfully formed over one lakh WhatsApp groups comprising party workers and office-bearers. Through these groups, the leadership regularly disseminates updates, campaign instructions, and communication strategies to ensure uniformity in messaging and prompt mobilisation of cadres.

Bawankule stated that these digital networks are also being used to train workers and guide them on effectively engaging with citizens, understanding their concerns, and addressing local issues. The BJP leadership believes that such tech-driven communication channels will be instrumental in maintaining real-time coordination across Mumbai and other urban centres during the campaign phase.
With the civic polls approaching, the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to reinforce its presence in Mumbai. Between new appointments, extensive grassroots engagement, digital coordination, and leadership-driven events, the party aims to not just repeat but surpass its 2017 performance and establish itself as the dominant force in the city’s political landscape.
