Devendra Fadnavis, the housing portfolio's deputy chief minister, declared on Wednesday that certain BMC projects would be the subject of a special CAG audit for potential irregularities. If necessary, a retired officer will also be involved in the investigation.
A CAG audit will be carried out concerning the charges specifically about the obvious syphoning of funds, Fadnavis said to the state parliament. There have been numerous complaints concerning irregularities in
BMC.
The Maharashtra government's urban development department would look into every charge of corruption involving the BMC, and a CAG audit will also be performed for the same, according to Fadanvis. In response to a discussion under rule 293 of the Maharashtra assembly, he made his revelation and claimed that a small number of BMC personnel were starting their businesses and doing BMC's duties. He promised that this will also be looked into.
All claims of corruption relating to the Ashraya project to provide housing for sanitation workers, he added, "would also be investigated on a priority basis." ‘’ Fadnavis claims that 29,009 of these homes will be granted to sanitation employees, along with all of the property rights that the previous administration had previously denied them.
Fadanvis told the home that the probe would be thorough and not just an "eyewash." It will take place on time. He added that there had been a complaint of BMC staff members starting up businesses and obtaining contracts through system manipulation. He gave the order for the urban development department to investigate such circumstances. Additionally, Fadnavis stated that a special investigation will be carried out into the Saifee Bhutani Uplift Trust project's change in declared plan and made it clear that the existing rehabilitation project was not on hold.
