Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022, the civic administration looks forward to more and more development and restoration work. Soon after completing the Mahim fort, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is now heading towards restoration and beautification of Worli Fort in coordination with the State Archaeological Department.
On the 26th of November, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had floated a tender for the project costing Rs 2 crores on the civic coffers. This project is under the observance of a noted conservation architect Vika Dilwari is consulting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Whereas G5A foundation for contemporary culture has designed the landscape and illumination of the fort, informed Gurav.
These restoration works hold a very major role here in the city of Mumbai in all the areas because their condition for years has been the same though with rapid urbanisation, various development projects along with not giving any significance from the authorities, threatening their existence.
In the past month, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery heading the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition government in a meeting concluded the restoration of six forts of the Mumbai city which were Sewri Fort, Worli Fort, Bandra Fort, Dharavi Fort, Mahim Fort and St George.
“Under phase 1 we will be doing all the civil work majorly which includes restoration and repair work of bund wall of the fort,” stated Project Assistant Municipal Commissioner.
