As the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022 approach the civic officials in its preparation has started promoting the Maharashtra EV Policy 2021 in the city of Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) will be setting up electric vehicle charging stations at 55 locations all over the city of Mumbai including the suburbs.
The charging stations will be made across the city for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers. As per the information from the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) officials which stats that every location will have up to six charging stations in a way to increase the availability of Electric Vehicles.
As per the sources of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) sources, in each of these 55 stations, there will be a minimum of three and a maximum of six fast charging points, which will not be located near the bus depots and bus stations but also in the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) land, which may include public parking spaces, which are identified and approved by the authorities. This plan signifies the preparedness of the civic body ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections which are speculated to be conducted in February next year.
The locations where the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will be setting the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations include Colaba, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Bandra, Andheri, Dharavi, Magathane and Vikhroli in the bus depots or around them.
This move comes up to encourage the use of more and more Electric Vehicles (EV). With this the state government as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022 approach has provided exemption in road tax, registration tax and property tax.
