BMC Elections 2017 Delimitation Plan is given a go ahead by State Poll Panel

The Maharashtra State Election Commission has give their go ahead for the BMC’s delimitation proposal for the BMC Polls 2017. A lottery for reservations will take place on October 3.
 
As stated earlier as well that the total number of wards have been kept at 227. The total number of wards in the island city has gone down by seven whereas the same has been increased in the eastern and western suburbs.
 
The Changes in the 24 Administrative Wards are as below:
 
Number of electoral wards will increase by one in Malad, Malvani (P-North)
Number of electoral wards will increase by one in Kandivli, Charkop (R-South)
Number of electoral wards will increase by one in Dahisar (R-North)
Number of electoral wards will increase by one in Kurla, Saki Naka (L)
Number of electoral wards will increase by one in Deonar, Mankurd (M-East)
Number of electoral wards will increase by one in Ghatkopar (N)
Number of electoral wards will increase by one in Bhandup, Vikhroli (S)
Number of electoral wards will decrease by one in Colaba, Churchgate, Fort, Cuffe Parade (A)
Number of electoral wards will decrease by one in Dongri, Pydhonie (B)
Number of electoral wards will decrease by one in Mumbadevi, Kalbadevi, Marine Drive (C)
Number of electoral wards will decrease by one in Malabar Hill, Peddar Road, Walkeshwar (D)
Number of electoral wards will decrease by one in Byculla, Agripada, Nagpada (E)
Number of electoral wards will decrease by two in Worli, Mahalaxmi (G-South)
Reservations
 
50% seats reserved for women
Scheduled caste seats up from 11 to 15 (List of Reserved Wards in BMC Elections 2012)
Important Dates
 
October 3: Lottery for ward reservation status
October 5: Release of draft ward formation list
October 20: Deadline for citizens to submit suggestions and objections
November 5: Final date of hearings of suggestions and objections
November 18: Election Commission’s decision
November 22: Release of final ward list, along with reservations, ward boundaries and approximate populations.
