The BMC has created a digital time slot booking tool for enhanced crowd control at Ganpati immersion locations. At the civic organization's website, www.shreeganeshvisarjan.com, users can reserve time slots and preferred immersion locations. Previously, the facility was exclusively intended for residents of Zone 1 of the A, D, and C wards, which includes places like Kalbadevi, Girgaon Chowpatty, and other nearby regions. All civic wards now provide the ability to make a reservation online.

The new facility will be useful for those who want to escape crowds, a civic official who spoke with the FPJ said. Families in particular who have household Ganpati may predict the crowd more accurately and schedule the immersion. The BMC will also benefit from this in managing the immersion locations, which typically have large crowds.

The official gave a thorough explanation of the facility and stated that while allocating time slots, immersion spot size is the main factor taken into account. For Girgaon Chowpatty, for example, 100 reservations can be made in a single hour. The same might not be true with artificial immersion spots, he added, noting that it would take a few days to properly assess how the public would react.

The official added that by comprehending the actual circumstances, the time slot booking process may be further optimised. The official anticipated increased foot traffic because there are no Covid limitations this year. He gave the example of a thousand- person Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal arriving at the immersion site, then 30 to 40 home Ganpati. The BMC, Police and the General Public would benefit if the individual Ganpatis were given a different time slot in such a case, the source noted.
