BMC Commissioner Iqbal Chahal appeals residents to observe home quarantine norms after 8,053 new cases were discovered in Mumbai in the last 24 hours

As the city of Mumbai reported 8,063 new Covid cases on Sunday, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Chief Iqbal Singh Chahal urged all home quarantined patients to carefully follow home quarantine protocols in order to limit the virus's spread in Mumbai as soon as feasible. However, Maharashtra reported 11,877 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, up 29% over yesterday, with 8,063 new infections in Mumbai. Nine Covid-related deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, but none from Mumbai. As per a State Health Department bulletin, 50 new Omicron cases have been found in the state, the majority of which are from the Pune area. In Maharashtra, there are now 42,024 active cases, with 29,819 in Mumbai. One new case of the new variety has been recorded in Mumbai, one of the major cities, along with Delhi, that is experiencing a large rise in viral cases thought to be caused by Omicron.
