BMC collects more than 48 crores in fines from people for not wearing masks

Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been fined more than Rs 48 crore since April 2020 for not wearing a mask during the Covid-19 epidemic. The Civil Body had said that special squads would be deployed for this purpose. While BMC collected Rs 48,28,80,800, Mumbai police collected Rs 6 6,77,01,800 from fined citizens.

 

Violators on three lines, Western Line, Harbour Line, and Central Line, have been fined Rs 50,39,200. A fine of Rs 8,54,66,900 was imposed on six zones in Mumbai, including Zone II, which includes Dadar and Wadala in central Mumbai. Zone IV, which includes Andheri, Goregaon, and Malad, was fined Rs 79787,400.
