BMC collects almost 50cr from citizens for not wearing masks

BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) has fined citizens Rs 50 crore for not wearing masks in public places since the onset of the Covid-19 epidemic. A fine of Rs 49 crore 15 lakh 46 thousand 800 [Rs 49,15,46,800] has been levied so far [end of April 2, 2021] on uncovered citizens in Mumbai Municipal Corporation area  BMC statement.

The fine for public spitting is Rs.  BMC officials say they have repeatedly appealed to citizens and that not wearing a mask is not safe for themselves and others. BMC adds that despite the growing number, the only option is to tighten the rules as many citizens are still not cooperating.  “Look, we say everywhere that the collection of fines is not our focus.
