BMC Chief got Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Award

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented the 2021 Lokmat Maharashtra Award to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal for his commendable efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Mumbai. Chahal has dedicte this award to 'Team BMC'.

It is an honour and a privilege to receive the award from the Union Finance Minister for his outstanding performance in the fight against the corona virus.  The award was decided by 2.50 million people through online voting,”Chahal said at a ceremony in New Delhi.  "Without the BMC team, it would have been" unimaginable to receive such a great honour, "the BMC commissioner said. 

Appointed head of BMC in May 2020, Chahal was presented with the Covid Crusaders Award 2020 by the Indo-American Chambers of Commerce and the US Consulate in Mumbai, the commercial capital of India, is the worst hit city in the country in terms of COVID-19 cases and deaths.
