BMC Budget 2022: Mumbai Civic Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal submits a budget of Rs 45949.21 crores for FY 2022-23, which is 17.70 percent higher than the previous year

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) released the Budget Estimates for the financial year 2022-23 on Thursday, which are a 17.70 percent increase over the Budget Estimates for 2021-22, which were 39038.83 crores. This year, in addition to 'Quality of Life,' BMC will emphasize 'Ease of Living' for its citizens. The BMC has begun the process of appointing Urban Space Designers to analyze and remodel roadways, footpaths and community areas in order to improve the 'Ease of Walking.'

 

Installation of street lights in regions where they are needed in greater numbers will improve the ease of safety on the streets, providing safety to citizens, including women and children. The City's 'Ease of Commute' will be improved by the Roadways and Bridges Department's Cement Concrete roads and new bridges.

 

BMC wishes to focus on the younger generation and provide the finest opportunities for them to prepare for the future, hence the Education budget has been significantly boosted this year. This year, the BMC has significantly raised its health infrastructure investment, bringing it to Rs 6933 crores.

 

The revenue income estimate for the fiscal year 2021-22 was raised from Rs 27811.57 crores to Rs 37538.41 crores, an increase of Rs 9726.84 crores. Up until January 2022, the real income received was Rs 30851.18 crores. The anticipated Revenue Income for the fiscal year 2022-23 is Rs 30743.61 crores, which is Rs 2932.04 crores higher than the Budget Estimates for the fiscal year 2021-22.

 

 

Meanwhile, on January 14, 2022, BMC created a WhatsApp Chatbot with the number 8999-22- 8999 in order to provide citizens with simple access to our services. This will make it easier to access roughly 80 BMC services. Citizens can use this app to apply for a shop licence, pay different fees, and receive information on BMC activities via WhatsApp 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without having to visit BMC offices. There is no need to register or anything like that. BMC is the only municipal corporation working on a municipal-specific framework for Ease of Doing Business, with a focus on Ease of Compliance, Monitoring, and Service Delivery.
