Mumbai: Mumbai's G-North ward of
BMC written to individual housing societies to implement paid immunization programs on their properties, adding that the ward will help bring private hospitals into the equation. G-North has several high and low residential establishments covering areas like Dadar, Dharavi, and Mahim. After a Housing Society sends the required application to their local ward office, the private hospitals will conduct a vaccination camp for the Society members.
This is because BMC has issued new guidelines a few weeks before vaccinating home societies using Private Covid Vaccination Centers (PCVC) so that societies have enough people to receive the vaccination. The battlefields were set up at the height of the Pandemic last year to provide beds and other essential information directly to citizens. Most of the housing societies in the G-North ward also received notices containing this information.
Speaking on the occasion, Kiran Dighavkar, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Ward, said, “At least three hospitals have expressed interest in vaccinating members of the society. However, these hospitals can only organize camps by the end of June when new vaccine stocks are expected, as existing stocks will be used for those who have already registered. Bhagyashree Kelker, a Citizen Forum member in
G North Ward, said citizens in individual communities are having difficulty finding a slot in the center's Covin app.
However, camping in small buildings is neither practical nor economical because the number of residents may be small. In such a case, if the whole path converges for the camp, it can be organized in a college or school, because they are under control. Also, in smaller buildings, many senior citizens may have already taken their vaccine doses, they recommended. Some elite communities in Mumbai are already conducting such vaccination drives with private hospitals. It charges Rs 1,000 or more per dose.
