BMC and BEST workers to get Diwali bonus, better than last year, announced CM Thackeray

Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday declared that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST), will get the highest every bonus ahead of the Diwali festival approaching this year. 

 

While the directives were given Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, Deputy Kishori Pednekar, Deputy Mayor Suhas Wadkar, Standing committee Chairman Yashwant Jadhav, BEST Committee Chairman Ashish Chemburkar, General Manager of BEST with Union leaders 

 

Last year, the bonus received by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) from the government of Maharashtra was 10,100 ahead of the Diwali Festival. There were no criteria to it, everyone regardless of their position through the employees got a bonus of 15,500. On the other, the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) workers got a total of 9,100 each as a bonus last year as a Diwali bonus. 

 

The officials further stated that it was a gift for them, for providing continuous services regardless of a pandemic or anything else. A total of 9 lakh Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are there with 34,000 Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST), now the main question of interest arises of funds. Does the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have funds if yes then why they aren’t being used for the development work that has to be done? This could ignite the flame from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022. 

 

“Despite lockdown being imposed all over the state the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) employees never stopped their work, with this the Brihanmumbai Electricity and Supply Transport (BEST) had always remained instrumental to take the medical staff to the concerned or vice versa, this is why it was decided to provide a bonus for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Brihanmumbai Electricity and Supply Transport (BEST),” stated one official.
