As the fear of a new variant of Covid 19 called omicron ignites all around the globe, the city of Mumbai becomes extra cautious where it announces new guidelines daily for travellers. In a recent statement, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport stated that all necessary measures have been put in place to meet the guidelines coming from the Ministry of Health for all the passengers who will be landing in the city from different countries.

The airport further clarified that it had made all the necessary arrangements which include additional testing and resting facilities, and would maintain the safety and convenience of the passengers who would be arriving. “30 rapid RT-PCR machines are also available for the passengers having connecting onward flights with short connecting time, and we look forward to upscale this facility with time,” stated the airport management.

They further informed that for the travellers who earlier did not do their RT-PCR through online mode, their QR codes have been displayed in the corridors. The sitting area is a large space where the passengers would be waiting for their results to come, with washrooms, food and beverages.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) however has given a two-day buffer for passengers who will be arriving at the airport from the countries which are at high risk before December 2, they would not be subjected to compulsory institutional quarantine for seven days. This decision from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) came considering the inconvenience that may be caused to passengers who already left the high-risk countries for India.
