Mumbai: Bhojpur police have filed a defamation suit against Mumbai BJP spokesperson Suresh Naqwa. The video was shared on social media alleging that it had tarnished the image of BMC. Sharing the video on Twitter on Tuesday, Nakhua wrote, “This is beyond shocking. A living man was taken to the BMC cemetery.
”The video, which BMC alleged was false, caused panic among Mumbai's elderly and approached the police. An official at the Bhoiwada police station said, “In the video, a man still alive is seen being taken to a cemetery for a funeral. The person shown can be seen shaking his face. When BMC officials asked Nakhua to share his details and the scene, he said it would only be shared with senior officials. "When Deputy Municipal Commissioner Devidas Shirsagar contacted him, Nakhua claimed he was in a medical emergency. Vinod Kamble, senior inspector of Bhoiwada police, said, "Since Nakhua did not respond, the BMC conducted an internal investigation and found that the incident did not take place in Mumbai."
The BMC officials had lodged a complaint with the police against Nakhua under sections 500 (defamation) and 505 (1) (b) (statements causing public nuisance) of the Indian Penal Code. Police issued him a notice on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, Nakhua tweeted: “There is no intent to create panic. I regret my actions and the inconvenience caused to the authorities and the public. mybmc @ CPMumbaiPolice. On Thursday, he recorded his statement to police. "No arrests have been made so far," Kamble said.
