At the International Airports of Mumbai and Nagpur, free random Covid-19 tests for arriving passengers have resumed after more than two years. According to the most recent Central and state norms, 2% of all international arrivals at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport are randomly tested. The passengers are being identified by the individual airlines they have travelled on, and they are being directed to specific terminal locations for their RT-PCR examinations. Then they must proceed on their next leg of the journey after turning in their samples.

According to the officials, the testing labs would make arrangements to offer passengers a free digital copy of the Covid-19 test findings. The CSMIA testing facility is located for convenience in the pre-immigration area, after the health screening counters, which are open 24/7, in the international arrival concourse. The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories and the Indian Council of Medical Research have both granted approval and accreditation to the laboratory chosen by the CSMIA.

For the testing procedure, there are three sampling booths and six registration stations. Additionally, both airports are taking preventative measures, disseminating information about the most recent advisories at key locations throughout the terminals and on their digital platforms, and educating all stakeholders about the importance of following any periodic instructions issued by the relevant authorities.
