As the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022 approach, on Sunday, a group of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) politicians from Maharashtra visited Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan, including Eknath Shinde, Balasaheb Thorat, and Chhagan Bhujbal. While the purpose for the meeting has yet to be revealed, the election for Assembly speaker is expected to take place during the current winter session of the Legislature, which is set to expire on December 28.

In addition, the Governor has yet to approve 12 candidates submitted by the state administration for nomination to the Legislative Council under his quota. Shinde is a Shiv Sena member, whereas Thorat is a Congress member and Bhujbal is a member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The MVA, led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, is made up of three primary constituents: the Sena, the Congress and the NCP.
