The BMC administration has drafted a request for the dismissal of 11 BJP corporators who resigned in protest at BYL Nair Hospital staff's alleged incompetence in the case of Worli cylinder blast victims. On Thursday, the plan will be presented to the BMC health committee. The ruling Shiv Sena is expected to accept the resignations at the meeting, according to sources. A cooking gas cylinder exploded at BDD Chawl no 3 in Worli on November 30.

Four members of the family had suffered severe burn injuries, including two toddlers. The man, his wife, and their four-month-old infant all died afterward. The hospital's medical staff did not attend to the victims as soon as they were admitted, according to a video that went viral. The incident was criticised by all party corporators, who demanded harsh punishment. A doctor, an intern, and a nurse were placed on leave, and an investigation panel was formed. The committee has yet to submit its report to the BMC.

Meanwhile, 11 BJP councillors, including Prakash More, Sunita Mehta, Anita Panchal, Neil Somayya, Yogita Koli, Harshita Narvekar, Sarika Pawar, Bina Doshi, Priyanka More, Bindu Trivedi, and Rajul Desai, resigned from the BMC health committee to protest the incident and alleged carelessness. However, the BMC administration has not publicly accepted their resignations. "What is the point of being on a health committee?" BJP corporator Bina Doshi told The Free Press Journal. We are the representatives of the people, and such acts of injustice will not be tolerated. Our advice is seldom taken seriously.
