In a recent decision that has come from the state government to resume the schools in Maharashtra, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has directed all schools in the city of Mumbai that a 100 percent attendance will not be mandatory, and the student will only be allowed to come to school after due consent of their parents is taken.
Without the permission of parents, the students should not be forced to join the school premises. All these directions have been mentioned in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) formed by the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The schools are set to open in the city of Mumbai from the 4th of October from 8 to 12 pm. The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is made considering the attendance, safety and Covid 19 hygiene, teaching, the wat students will be sitting in the classrooms, school management, parents and students.
It has been 19 months that the school has been shut after the Covid 19 pandemic. An important and major decision that has been taken by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) of linking the schools with the closest primary health centers before they start the classes so that they have a hand ahead while dealing in case of emergencies.
Around 15 to 20 students will be permitted to be seated in a class, in case of more students the school will have to make arrangements for two batches and divide students into two groups and should call them on alternative days. The in-person class will not exceed more than two to three hours without lunch breaks. Air conditioners should not be operated in the classrooms.
The schools have also been instructed to not give certificates to the students for 100 percent attendance looking at the situation of Covid 19 in the city. The masks will be mandatory and the teachers need to be fully vaccinated and if in any case not, then they will have to take an RT-PCR report 48 hours prior and the school should verify these reports in the laboratory.
