In the recent rise in Covid-19 cases, the Brihanmumbai Corporation has decided that at least 30,000 tests should be done in the city daily. To keep the present positivity rate less than 3%, 32 samples will be tested for each positive case. Regular testing for each ward shall be at least 32 times more than the number of daily reported cases in the ward.
Due to the rise in cases from June 23, the BMC has decided to look daily for 10 high-risk wards and carry out contact tracing within 72 hours. Amid a rise in cases across the state, Kolhapur reported the highest number of Coronavirus cases- 3,423 and 1,822 cases in Mumbai. Officials stated that there are some districts Kolhapur, Raigad, Satara, and Sangali where a surge in cases can still be seen and that they tightened the containment measures.
The state continues to report less than 200 Covid-19 deaths for the last two days, the daily Covid-19 deaths in Mumbai carry on rising at over 20 for the fourth successive day, with 21 deaths reported on Saturday. 9,489 cases were reported, a slight increase since Friday, and 153 deaths were reported taking the total cases across Maharashtra since the start of the pandemic to 60.88 lakh and the deaths to 1,22,724.
Meanwhile, Mumbai records the highest vaccination as the BMC has opened walk-in registration even for the 18-44 years age group. The BMC alone inoculated 88,840 beneficiaries in a day, Private centres across 62 Hospitals administered 85,621 doses. Many agencies by the
BMC are constructing four new Covid-19 centres. Malad facility was inaugurated on Monday. It has nearly 2,200 beds of which about 70% are oxygen connections and 190 ICU beds. The centre also has the arrangement of 200 oxygen beds and 50 ICU beds for children.04.07.2021
