In a statement given by
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, he said that the city of Mumbai is the number one city in terms of percentage amongst all the cities of India in the vaccination against Covid 19. The total number of people who have been administered with the first dose of vaccination is at 80 percent and 30 percent of eligible residents in the city of Mumbai have received both the doses, stated Chahal.
“My salute to all the private hospitals in the city of Mumbai, for their great contribution and participation in the vaccination drive. We all can be safeguarded from the third wave of Covid 19, with proper vaccination and making a habit of wearing masks wherever necessary,” stated Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police has made a strict announcement regarding the Ganesh Festival celebration in the city of Mumbai. On Friday, the Mumbai Police said that the citizens who do not wear a proper mask or are not following the protocols set by the state government will be charged by the Mumbai Police.
This announcement from the Mumbai Police came immediately after they received an order from the Joint CP (Law and Order), Vishwas Nangre Patil. An official stated that “The Mumbai Police is gearing for the approaching festive season in the city of Mumbai. The Mumbai Police has made it very clear that they would not spare people coming out on the streets to celebrate the festival and will take all the necessary strict action if anyone is found breaking the protocols.”
A rule has been set by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) of closing buildings and designating areas as containment zones where there are more than 5 residents tested positive for the novel Coronavirus. The State of Maharashtra on Saturday recorded 4,130 new cases of Covid 19 with 64 mortalities.
