Unknown individuals have been charged with filing an FIR after they hacked the LED pole display at the Chowk in front of the Oberoi Mall in Goregaon and displayed pornographic messages on it. The BMC installed this display in June 2021, and Negative Carbon Enterprises Pvt Ltd was given the contract to maintain it and flash messages. The speed restriction is written on the upper board, while "welcome" is written on the lower board of the pole. Additionally, messages are disseminated to raise awareness among the general public.

On Thursday, the incident happened at about 9.10 P.M. Negative Carbon and the BMC both failed to alter the messages. However, Senior Police Inspector Mukand Yadav of the Dindoshi Traffic Division called the city's officials to let them know that the LED screen was flashing offensive messages. The BMC promptly turned off the pole's electricity supply. Civic officials were also uninformed of the situation when they contacted Negative Carbon.

Further investigation revealed that the LED board had been hacked, illegally accessed, and had been used to display offensive messages. Shubham Deepak Khairnar, a Junior Civic Engineer, has filed a case at the Dindoshi Police Station on behalf of the BMC in this regard. There are further studies under progress.
