AMC writes to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, requesting that he retract his statement on the medical fraternity

The Association of Medical Consultants has written to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, requesting that he retract his remarks on the medical profession. The world's largest medical group is outraged by the preceding remark and responds with some facts. Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey stated in a recent program held on March 27 at the Hotel Sahara Star that patients are treated as a commodity by doctors and sent for "more than necessary" pathological tests at "preferred laboratories."

 

Wish you had told the government this so that the government wouldn't have wasted billions of rupees on JUMBO Health-Care facilities and more than 1500 doctors wouldn't have died in vain. We would have had millions more fatalities on our hands if only crocin had been made available," the letter continued.

 

"We restate that, AMC shall stand resolutely behind any member found to be harassed by any anti-social element, be it the police, politicians or the media," one of the doctors said. We will not hesitate to go to court or suspend services until the perpetrator is apprehended. Unjustified violence against members of the medical profession will now be met with ZERO TOLERANCE. Withdrawing your anti-medical sentiments will go a long way toward reassuring the medical community that you recognize the enormous contribution that doctors make to society and that your remarks were made inadvertently."
