At a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat voiced strong  opposition to Nashik Police Commissioner Deepak Pandey's alleged claims against revenue officers and special executive  magistrates, referring to them as RDX and detonators. Pawar, who is known for his administrative clout, voiced grave worry about a top IPS officer's remark directed at tax officers and special executive magistrates.

Pawar further stated that it might taint the administration's functioning and start a new trend that would be detrimental to Maharashtra's progressive image. In a recent letter to the state DGP, Pandey lambasted the revenue officers and special executive magistrates' work, holding them accountable for their inaction, which contributed to the expansion of land mafias. The land mafias, according to Pandey, have been looting the people with the blessings of the revenue officers.

Pandey argued that the Criminal Procedure Code should be amended to limit revenue officers' magisterial authority. Thorat chastised Pandey for the insulting language in his letter after it was leaked, and brought the matter up with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Following that, Pandey apologized. Pandey's letter, on the other hand, sparked outrage among Revenue Department Officers and staff, who asked that he be fired.
