The Congress in Mumbai which is coming up with various strategies for the approaching
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022, kept a point that in an offer to announce the mayoral candidate beforehand, the Congress party should project famous personalities.
No personality in the strategy document of Congress party are members of the party. The draft of the strategy document was done by City Congress Secretary Ganesh Yadav and yet has not been tabled before the leaders of the party. The document stated that the personality should have some appeal among the youth. The 25-page document also stated that a small number of tickets should be given to young professionals, social activists and start-up owners for an exercise of image building. The document further stated the much-debated issue of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, stating that the Congress party will have to become clear about the party’s stand in the upcoming BMC elections on its decision about whether they will ally with the Shiv Sena or fight alone.
“As of now, our party is unclear about the stand as we are in the alliance of the Shiv Sena at the state level. Our position on various issues must be concrete so that there is effective communication with the citizens. So, to be able to make decisions in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) this work has to be done immediately. As of now, there are no Congress members in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) house,” stated the report.
The document further stated that if
Congress decides of fighting the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections individually then it will have to immediately announce the candidates on 147 seats in the areas where there are no corporator of the Congress party.
