When it comes to COVID-19 regulations, 65 percent of passengers prefer buses that have an on-board restroom, while 60 percent prefer buses that have GPS tracking. This was the conclusion of a study conducted by mobility platform IntrCity, which polled 3100 people aged 18 to 60 years old. When it comes to modes of transportation, women prioritize safety, while men value punctuality. Between March 15 and April 10, the survey was performed.

IntrCity, an intercity mobility platform, conducted a travel survey to better understand Indian travellers' behaviour and preferences when travelling between cities. People are eager about travelling yet concerned about hygiene and sanitisation when taking long-awaited vacations, visiting family on weekends, or going on business trips, according to the findings.

Hygiene and safety are the top two characteristics that influence the mode of transportation choices for intercity travellers, followed by cost and punctuality as the joint third most important factors. According to the study, over two-thirds of all respondents answered that they would choose to use a SmartBus over a traditional bus.

When compared to a standard bus, at least 75% are willing to pay more for these benefits. An automated GPS system and an on-board washroom facility are two of the most popular features for travellers among these advantages. Intercity passengers generally think GPS tracking on their bus is a good idea, with 60% stating it will make their journey easier and less stressful. Similarly, on an intercity bus trip, over 65 percent of all respondents, across genders and age groups, prefer an on-board washroom.

"Inter-city travel appears to have made a major comeback in a post-pandemic world, as travel rebounds at an unprecedented rate and all COVID limitations on travel are being relaxed," stated Kapil Raizada, Co-founder of IntrCity, in response to the poll. Our survey reveals the intercity traveler's top priorities. The new normal requires a sustained focus on safety, hygiene, punctuality, and offering travellers a unique experience."
