BMC Elections 2022
The P-North ward will likely take longer to divide because the city council must still find a suitable site for the construction of a second ward office in the area. After the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election, the division work is likely to begin.

The P-North ward, which covers the Malad (East) and Malad (West) regions, is the most densely populated and largest ward under the BMC. The Sanjay Gandhi National Park is located on the eastern border of the ward and continues west to the Arabian Sea. The Appa Pada and Kranti Nagar areas are on the ward's north side, while the Chincholi Bandar region is on the ward's south end. The ward has a population of 9.43 lakh people and covers 46.67 square metres.

The BMC officers are having difficulty providing civic utilities in this ward due to its length and population. Furthermore, citizens' visits to the ward office are a huge undertaking. Malad is where the present P-North ward office is located (west). Appa Pada, Ambedkar Nagar, Kranti Nagar and Santosh Nagar residents must travel 5-6 kilometres to reach the ward office. As a result, residents are calling for the ward to be divided.

In his most recent budget, BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal proposed a ward division and set aside Rs 5 crore for the project. The Civic Administration has chosen to open two offices in Malad (East) and Malad (West), although no work has been done on this yet.

"The joint municipal commissioner has already instructed the DP department to identify land for the administrative office," Makrand Dagadkhair, Assistant Municipal Commissioner of the P North ward, stated. The administrative office of the ward will require approximately 11,000 square metres of land. We require additional personnel, and the hiring process is now underway. Elections have been called, and I do not believe the division will occur before the election."
