Soon after the former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was issued a summon by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), and was arrested, the former’s son Hrishikesh Deshmukh was asked to be present on Friday for further questioning about a money laundering case. Soon after he was present, extensive interrogation took place after which he was arrested in connection with a money laundering case of 100 crores. The case started when the former Mumbai Police Commissioner officer Param Bir Singh wrote a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray alleging money laundering against former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, soon after this the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a case against the former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
After the investigation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), revealed that the money was sent to Delhi-based Jatin brothers who operated bogus paper companies using hawala channels. Soon after it, the Jatin brothers depicted this money as donations to Nagpur-based Shri Sai Shikshan Sansthan, which is a trust operated by Anil Deshmukh and his family. It is speculated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that the Jatin brothers were following instructions given by the former Home Minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh’s son Hrishikesh Deshmukh.
