Adani Group Takes Over the Management of Mumbai Airport

GVK Group managed the Mumbai International Airport. The airport board held a meeting a few days back and decided to hand over the management of the Mumbai International Airport from the GVK group to Billionaire Gautam Adani led Adani Enterprises Limited. 

 

The Adani Group now holds a 74 percent stake in the Mumbai airport while the Airport Authority of India holds the remaining 26 percent. Adani Group Chairman said, “We are more than happy to take over the management of the world-class Mumbai Airport.”

He also promised to build the best airport with modern facilities so people can travel for business and leisure. He further added that “We look forward to modernizing and revamp the airport, we will strive to make Mumbai proud.”

 

Along with managing the Mumbai Airport, the Adani group will also oversee the construction of the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The construction will start in August and is expected to be completed in 2024. Along with the Mumbai and Navi Mumbai Airports, the company will manage 6 other airports in India. These airports are Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, and Jaipur. These airports will be managed by the Adani Group. Mumbai is the 7th airport it will oversee and construction for the Navi Mumbai airport will start soon. Because of this, they will also have control of 33 percent of the country’s air cargo traffic.
