The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government is committed to providing financial incentives of Rs 50,000 each to farmers who repay their loans on time under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Debt Waiver Scheme, the Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar declared this statement, handling the planning and finance departments, during question hour in the state assembly. In response to a query from Shiv Sena politician Prakash Abitkar, Pawar stepped in.

Due to the financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak, Pawar stated that there was a delay in giving such assistance." Farmers who are repaying their loans on time, on the other hand, would be helped if the financial situation returns to normal," he said. He further claimed that it was the only state that offered zero-interest crop loans up to Rs 3 lakh to farmers who paid back their loans on time.

Following Maha Vikas Aghadi's appointment, the government announced the loan waiver scheme, which included a full loan waiver for farmers with debts up to Rs 2 lakhs and monetary support of Rs 50,000 for farmers who paid their debts on time. According to Pawar, the government has released Rs 20,290 crores to 31.81 lakhs farmers under the debt waiver scheme.
