While speaking to reporters today, Maharashtra Minister Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated that while the daily caseload in Maharashtra is reducing, individuals must continue to wear masks. He went on to say that no decision has been made about mask removal.
 
Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 6,248 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, down from 8,94 the day before, bringing the total number of cases to 78,29,633, according to the Health Department. During the day, 45 people died from the illness, compared to 92 on Wednesday. The death toll now stands at 1,43,292, according to the report.
 
After 18,942 patients were discharged during the day, the state's overall recovery count increased to 76,12,233, leaving 70,150 active cases. The state also discovered 121 new instances of the Omicron form of the virus on Thursday, with the National Institute of Virology (NIV) reporting 84 cases and the B J Medical College reporting 37 others.
 
Nagpur has 82 Omicron cases, Wardha has 14, Pune city has nine, Sindhudurg has eight and Dhule, Latur, Amravati, and Yavatmal each have two. The state's COVID-19 fatality rate is 1.83 percent, with a recovery rate of 97.22 percent. There are 5,53,175 people in home isolation and 2,386 persons under institutional quarantine at the moment. The number of swab samples evaluated in Maharashtra has risen to 7,60,40,567, according to the report, with 1,34,891 coronavirus tests completed in the last 24 hours.
 
There were 1,951 new cases in the Pune administrative zone, followed by Nashik (811), Nagpur (1,042), Mumbai (892), Akola (579) Aurangabad (445), Kolhapur (310), and the Latur district (218), according to the report. Multiple districts make up each administrative region.
 
Pune had 17 deaths, followed by 11 in Mumbai, five in Nagpur, four each in Nashik and Akola, two in Latur, and one each in Aurangabad and Kolhapur, according to the study.
