Aaditya Thackeray opens the first medical college in the Mumbai suburbs

On Monday, Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray opened the new building of Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College, the first medical college in the Mumbai suburbs, on the campus of Dr. RN Cooper Hospital. The college building, according to Thackeray, would help develop MBBS and post-graduate students, hence enhancing the state's medical infrastructure. On Twitter, the Guardian Minister claimed,
 
"At the Dr. RN Cooper Hospital campus, he dedicated the new building of Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College, which was the first medical college in the Mumbai suburbs. This edifice will house MBBS and PG students, bolstering our medical infrastructure."
 
Thackeray further remarked that the medical college will assist bridge the gap between the doctor-patient ratio in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation hospitals, calling the inauguration a "moment of pride." "It is a source of pride for me as a Guardian Minister to have a specialized medical education centre in the suburbs that will educate future physicians, nurses and medical personnel while also helping to bridge the gap between the doctor-patient ratio in BMC hospitals," he tweeted. According to the Minister, the BMC has five medical institutions in Mumbai, making it the most likely municipal body in India to have such a large number of medical colleges.
