The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to enter into a makeshift arrangement — a temporary building to manage health related issues this monsoon.

The reconstruction of the main building will require two more years for completion of the only civic hospital in the area meant to cater to the population of Borivali and Kandivali. It comes  under the C2 category buildings and was evacuated after the building collapse in Dockyard Road in 2013.The hospital maintains ambulance for emergency cases, but patients are not being treated there presently.

The temporary hospital will only be available for patients suffering from monsoon-related illnesses. “No surgical aid is going to be provided here. In fact even if a patient has a fracture, the hospital won’t be able to provide him with necessary medication,” said local Shiv Sena corporator Shubha Raul.
