Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared to resume schools both private and public for classes 8 to 12. As per the data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials in a total of 781 schools in the city of Mumbai have a total of 67,361 eligible students falling under the category who can join the physical classes.
“60 percent of parents have agreed to send their children to school premises for physical classes,” stated Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official. Further, the officials stated that some parents have not given consent because as the festivals are approaching, they are in their native place with the online classes taking place in the past, but our motive is that more and more students take benefit of offline classes.
The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) released for resuming physical classes by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) states that there is no requirement of 100 percent attendance in physical classes and consent of parents will be necessary.
A positive step that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken is of mandating the school management to link their respective schools with the closest Health Centre before they resume the physical schools, to be on a safer side in case of emergencies in students and staff.
