Even now, three months after the start of the school year in June, around 3,50,000 of the 1,216 schools under the control of the BMC are still without uniforms. Due to the flaw, the students are required to either attend class in civvies or old uniforms. This occurs as the BMC works to improve its educational infrastructure through the addition of contemporary labs and libraries, renovation of buildings, and incorporation of the ICSE, CBSE, and even Cambridge curricula.

The pupils have been promised a new dress code, so they are excitedly awaiting their uniforms. The BMC last updated the look of its school uniforms in 2009. The civic body decided on a top with a check design and a bottom in cream. "Delays in the sewing of uniforms were caused by late flotation of tenders. There are 3,50,000 students, and we provide each one two sets of clothes. This implies that we must supply roughly 7 lakh uniforms. After receiving the first lot, distribution will begin right away, according to a local official.
