The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said it could not provide vaccine at 25 of the 71 approved vaccination centers.  As many as 25 private Mumbai hospitals could not give vaccine due to the increase in Covid-19 cases.  On Thursday, the city civic body claimed a reduction in doses. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement that it could not provide vaccine in 25 of the 71 approved vaccination centers. However, at the remaining centers, doses were given to eligible beneficiaries, but the existing stock only lasted for one day, and the city council said it was continuing to make efforts to purchase more shots.

Currently, the Civil Body has activated 120 Covid-19 vaccination centers, 49 of which are run by the Government of Maharashtra and BMC across Mumbai.  These centers provide employment to 40,000 to 50,000 people daily. As of April 7, BMC reported receiving 17,09,550 vaccine doses.  Of these, 15,61,420 vaccine doses were given.

According to the Civil Body release, 44,810 of the balance stock (1,48,130) are being kept for the second dose as directed by the state government.  That means 1,03,320 doses were available Thursday morning.  40,000 to 50,000 vaccine doses were used during the day.
