SP

The Samajwadi Party (SP), roughly translated as the "Socialist Party", is a regional political party approved by the Election Commission of India. Its primary base is in Uttar Pradesh, though it has a presence in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, and Uttarakhand. The party was founded on 4 October 1992 by Mulayam Singh Yadav after breaking away from the Janata Dal, with a core ideology of social justice, secularism, and pro-farmer policies. The party primarily caters to the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), minorities, and rural communities. It has been a dominant political force in Uttar Pradesh for decades.

The Election Symbol of the Samajwadi Party, as approved by the Election Commission of India, is a “Bicycle”. The bicycle represents grassroots connection, simplicity, and progress for the common man. The party flag is red and green with a white bicycle in the center, where red signifies revolution and socialism, while green symbolizes prosperity and growth.

Akhilesh Yadav, National President & Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh: Akhilesh Yadav is an Indian politician and currently holds the position of National President of the Samajwadi Party. Akhilesh Yadav was also elected to the 18th Lok Sabha from Kannauj in the 2024 Indian general election. He now leads the Samajwadi Party in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament.
Ram Gopal Yadav, National General Secretary & Rajya Sabha MP: Ram Gopal Yadav currently serves as the National General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party and is a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Rajya Sabha. He began his career as the Chairman of the Etawah Zila Parishad in 1989. He was appointed Chairperson of the Committee on Health and Family Welfare in September 2024.
Dimple Yadav, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha (Mainpuri): Dimple Yadav is an Indian politician and currently serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha from the Mainpuri constituency in Uttar Pradesh. She belongs to the Samajwadi Party. Dimple Yadav secured victory in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 general elections, defeating her opponent, Jaiveer Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Shivpal Singh Yadav, Senior Leader & MLA: Shivpal Singh Yadav is a prominent Indian politician from Uttar Pradesh. He is currently the Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly representing the Jaswantnagar constituency in Etawah district, a position he has held since 1996. He is also the founder of the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party
Kiranmoy Nanda, National Vice President: Kiranmoy Nanda currently holds the position of National Vice President of the Samajwadi Party. He previously served as General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party. He rejoined the Samajwadi Party in 2010. Kiranmoy Nanda was a member of the Rajya Sabha from April 3, 2012 to April 2, 2018.
Ravidas Mehrotra, MLA & Senior UP Leader: Ravidas Mehrotra is an Indian politician and a prominent leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh. He currently serves as a Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Lucknow Central constituency, having been elected in 2022. He previously held the same seat from 2012 to 2017.
