The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), roughly translated as the "Rashtravadi Congress", is a national political party approved by the Election Commission of India. Its primary mass base is in Maharashtra, though it has a visible presence in states like Goa, Meghalaya, Gujarat, and Bihar. The party was founded in June 1999 by Sharad Pawar, P.A. Sangma, and Tariq Anwar after separating from the Indian National Congress due to differences over Sonia Gandhi’s foreign origin issue.

Election Symbol of NCP (SP):
The party flag consists of three horizontal stripes – saffron, white, and green – with a clock symbol in the center, signifying inclusiveness, secularism, and growth.
Now, Sharad Pawar’s faction is now using the “Man Blowing Turha” (a traditional Marathi trumpet) instead of the old “Clock” symbol. The Election Commission approved this change after the split with Ajit Pawar’s group
