Two Conditions for alliance with Sena, laid down by CM Devendra Fadnavis

The elections to cash rich BMC are scheduled to take place in March 2017 and all eyes are set on any pre poll alliance announcements. Maharashtra Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday that a tie up was possible with the Sena only if two stringent conditions were fulfilled

The conditions are that the Sena would have to take into account BJP’s increased strength while deciding on a seat-sharing formula and the BJP’s demand for transparency in the functioning of the BMC, he said.

“Whether there will be a Shiv Sena-BJP alliance will depend on these two conditions being met by the Shiv Sena,” the CM said in an informal chat with mediapersons in Nagpur on the sidelines of the state legislature’s winter session.

Fadnavis spoke about the “corruption” in the BMC over the years and said that this issue of “organizational management” needs to be addressed.

“We are positive of a pre-poll alliance in Mumbai, but we want an honourable deal because of our increased strength in the latest civic polls. Apart from BJP’s increased strength, the other issue that has to be considered is our working style. Our emphasis is on clean and transparent functioning. The corruption charges that have been made against the BMC in the past so many years will need to be clarified,” Fadnavis said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to flag off the BJP’s civic poll campaign on December 24 by inaugurating a slew of key projects in the city.
