It is not new news for Mumbaikers that BMC is involved in another scam. While trying to save face from sweeper, road and desilting scams, BMC is again in trouble after recruitment scam was exposed by an alert citizen of Mumbai. As per a source, he has found that the civic body has selected 47 clerks after it issued an advertisement for recruitment to only 12 posts in 2013.
On the condition of anonymity he said that, “I found that the number of people recruited were more than the openings mentioned in the advertisement. The papers provided by the BMC cited that 47 candidates were selected for the clerical post and of these, 35 have joined the service. Adding to this he said that he has written a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadavnis office to raise the issue and to initiate detailed probe against the Recruitment scam.
In this letter he has also mentioned the name of BMC officials for their improper functioning. He said that when he tried to get more information about this scam he called the municipal secretary department and its head Narayan Pathade but there was no response from Pathade. He also made several attempts to contact BMC Commissioner Ajay Mehta but again there was no response from BMC.
