Over 20 trees illegally hacked while BMC was on 4 day break

While BMC officials were on a four-day break, a fenced garden nearby Carnac Bunder bridge was levelled to make room for a car park.

The long and narrow garden near Crawford market was cut down and two dozen cars are already parked on the open space which was covered with trees just five days ago.The local residents alerted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday about the hacking of trees.

The local Congress corporator Javed Juneja said, “This is a clear attempt to make an illegal parking lot by local shops and establishments. The BMC is turning a blind eye -not just to illegal construction but illegal parking too.” The corporator also asked the BMC to take action against those responsible and file an FIR as steel fencing was also removed.
